I grew up on celtic music. Some of it good, some of it less so, and some of it really spectacular.
My favourite was always the fusion, of course. Stuff like Ashley MacIsaac (yeah, remember Ashley MacIsaac?! I sure as fuck do)
A band you might not have heard of however are a group of Cape Bretoners called "The Barra MacNeils". This album Closer To Paradise played in our house all the time growing up, and I remember in the car my sister and I would have my parents play the song "Chase The Man" over and over and over (and over and over and over!) again. They're really great fun, and I have no qualms admitting that this is the kind of stuff I listen to for leisure. It's awesome.
After listening to/reading this it may not surprise you to learn that my first drum was actually a bodhran.
